John joined Beaird Harris in 2012 and has been a practicing advisor since 1999. John specializes in investment research, retirement income planning and helping clients achieve their financial goals. He co-founded a fee-only investment advisory firm in 2006 and has been an advocate of our evidence-based, structured approach to investment management since that time. He firmly believes the hey to long-term success is focusing on the factors that we can control and not getting distracted by those we can't.
John leads the firm's Investment Committee and has played an active role in enhancing the operational efficiency of our back office. He is passionate about finding forward-thinking solutions to challenges that our clients will face in the years to come. This has made him a valuable contributor in the development of our Strategic Plan.
John has been cited in multiple industry publications and teaches select seminars to MBA students at Souther Methodist University regarding the basics of personal finance. He founded a local non-profit organization and has been volunteering with Dallas County Divert Court helping those with substance abuse issue since 2007. He is also proud of his accomplishments as an Eagle Scout, black belt, marathoner and Ironman.
John is a 1999 graduate of Texas A&M University and has been a Certified Financial PlannerTM professional (CFP®) since 2002. He earned his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Southern Methodist University in 2004 and was awarded his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter in 2011 after completing the three year curriculum. He has always been committed to continued learning as evidence by his accomplishments as an Accredited Investment Fiduciary AnalystTM (AIFA), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), Certified Fund Specialist (CFS), Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), and Accredited Estate Planner (AEP). He is an active member of the CFA Society of Dallas, Financial Planning Association and Dallas Estate Planning Council.
